Message from Mayor Patrick G. Meredith
Welcome to our virtual tour of the Village of Walton, New York! Walton is the home of the Delaware County Fair, a major summer attraction for local residents and thousands of visitors. JoDee Messina, Lady Antebellum, and Dirks Bentley are among those who have appreared live in concert at the fair.
Highlights of our rural lifestyle include the Walton Fire Department and EMS, Delaware Valley Hospital, the Walton Theater (which offers first run movies and live concerts), the William B. Ogden Free Library, and the Walton Chamber of Commerce.
The Walton Central School District (comprised of Townsend Elementary School, Dr. George F. Mack Middle School, and O'Neill High School) provides a quality education and numerous activites for our youth. Our sports and extracurricular teams have regularly qualified for and competed at regional, district, and statewide contest.
Located along the banks of the West Branch of the Delaware River, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, we enjoy outdoor activites year-round to include hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, swimming, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and bird-watching.
Austin Lincol Park offers many opportunities from baseball, softball, and basketball to family gatherings, reunions, and worship services under the pavilions. Our local swimming pool provides a summer swimming lesson and recreation program under the supervision of certified lifeguards. There are several other parks within the village limits available for picinics and small-group recreational activities.
The restaurants, shops, and businesses in our community welcome residents and visitors and offer a wide array of services, and several churches provide ministry, mission, and worship opportunites for those of various denominations.
Our easy access to more urban settings such as New York City, Binghamton, Oneonta, Cooperstown, Albany, Ithaca, Utica, and Elmira allows for frequent one-day outings for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
